These API Terms govern your use of the Aero Reg API. They supplement, and form part of, our Terms & Conditions — where these terms are silent, the main Terms apply. By generating an API key or calling the API, you accept them.
Access & API keys#
API access is granted through keys issued to your account. You agree that:
- Your keys are personal to your account and must be kept confidential — treat them like a password.
- You are responsible for all activity carried out with your keys, whether or not you authorised it.
- You will not share, embed in public client-side code, or transfer your keys to a third party.
- You will tell us promptly at security@aeroreg.co.uk if a key is lost or compromised, so we can revoke it.
Fair use, rate limits & quotas#
API usage is subject to the rate limits and quotas of your plan. We publish these in the API documentation and may enforce them automatically.
- Do not exceed your plan’s limits, run excessive concurrent requests, or attempt to circumvent throttling.
- We may rate-limit, throttle, or temporarily block requests to protect the stability and fairness of the service.
- Persistent or deliberate abuse of limits may lead to suspension or revocation of your access.
Acceptable use of API data#
The acceptable-use rules in our main Terms apply in full to data obtained through the API. In particular, you agree not to:
- Bulk-extract, scrape, or harvest data beyond the limits of your plan.
- Resell, redistribute, or sub-license bulk extracts of our compiled data without our written permission.
- Use the API to build or populate a competing bulk registry or data product.
- Use the data to harass, stalk, or endanger any individual, owner, or operator.
- Use the API for any unlawful purpose or in breach of any third party’s rights.
Caching#
You may cache API responses to the reasonable extent needed to run your own application efficiently and to reduce duplicate requests. Cached data should be refreshed in line with the daily update cycle so that you are not relying on stale records, and remains subject to these terms.
Accuracy & reliance#
API data is drawn from third-party public registers and is provided “as is”, without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Do not rely on it for any safety-critical, navigational, operational, or compliance decision; always verify against the official source register.
Changes to the API#
We may add, change, deprecate, or remove endpoints, fields, and behaviour as the service evolves. We aim to give reasonable notice of breaking changes through the API documentation or to registered API users, but the API is provided without any guarantee of backward compatibility or uninterrupted availability unless a separate service-level agreement has been agreed in writing.
Fees#
Some API access is offered on paid plans. Where it is, billing is handled as set out in our Terms & Conditions and our Refund & Cancellation Policy, with payments processed by PayPal. We never see or store your card details.
Suspension & revocation#
We may suspend or revoke an API key, with or without notice, where its use breaches these terms, threatens the security or stability of the service, or where we are required to by law. On revocation, your right to call the API ends, although the provisions on accuracy, acceptable use, and liability survive.
Privacy & governing law#
Personal data is handled in line with our Privacy Policy. These API Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. For questions about API use, contact legal@aeroreg.co.uk.
