Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. We use as few as we can — just enough to keep you signed in. Your colour-theme preference is remembered using your browser’s local storage, not a cookie. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or any third-party tracking SDK on this site. This page lists every cookie we set and explains how to control them.
Our approach#
Aero Reg is a registry-intelligence service, not an advertising business, so we have no reason to track you around the web. The cookies we set are all strictly necessary to operate the site. We store one preference (your colour theme) in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie. We do not load Google Analytics, ad networks, social-media pixels, or session-replay tools.
We only set cookies that are strictly necessary or that record a choice you actively make, and our analytics is configured to run without setting tracking cookies on your device. Because of that, we do not need to interrupt you with a consent pop-up under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Strictly necessary cookies#
These cookies are required for the site to work — for example, to sign you in and keep you signed in. They are set only when you actually use those features, and the site cannot function correctly without them, so they are exempt from consent requirements.
trongatetoken- Identifies your signed-in session so you do not have to log in on every page. It is created when you log in and removed when you log out. By default it lasts for your browsing session; if you choose “remember me” at login it persists for up to 60 days (up to 30 days for administrator sign-ins).
- Session cookie
- A standard PHP session cookie used to maintain state during your visit — for example, to carry a security token between a form and its submission. It expires when you close your browser.
Blocking the strictly-necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in or staying signed in. The public lookup pages will still work without an account.
Local storage (not cookies)#
We use your browser’s local storage — not a cookie — to remember one preference you set. Local storage data is never transmitted to any server and does not appear in HTTP request headers, so it cannot be used to track you across the web.
aeroreg_theme(local storage)- Remembers whether you have chosen the light or dark colour theme. It is written only when you use the theme toggle and holds no personal data. Clearing your browser’s site data for this domain, or using private / incognito browsing, removes it and returns the site to the automatic theme that follows your operating-system preference.
Analytics#
We use self-hosted analytics software, running on our own infrastructure, to understand which pages are useful and how the site performs. It is configured to anonymise IP addresses and to operate without setting tracking cookies on your device, so it cannot be used to identify or follow you. None of this data is shared with a third-party analytics company.
Third-party cookies#
We do not set third-party advertising or tracking cookies. If you make a payment, that part of the process is handled by PayPal on PayPal’s own pages, and any cookies set there are governed by PayPal’s cookie and privacy policies, not ours.
Managing cookies#
You are always in control of cookies in your browser. Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies through its settings:
- Delete existing cookies for this site at any time.
- Block cookies entirely — note that this will stop you signing in.
- Use private/incognito browsing, which clears cookies when you close the window.
For step-by-step instructions, see the help pages for your browser (for example, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge).
Changes to this policy#
If we add, remove, or change a cookie, we will update this page and revise the effective date shown above. For how we handle personal data more generally, see our Privacy Policy.
