01 · 14 CFR §47, Subpart C
Issued to businesses selling aircraft
The FAA issues dealer certificates to manufacturers and dealers
substantially engaged in manufacturing or selling aircraft. The
certificate stands in for individual registration while an
aircraft is held for sale.
02 · 12-month validity
Renewed every year
Certificates expire 12 months after issue. We track issue and
expiration dates daily — expired certificates drop out of
this directory automatically on the next import.
03 · Matched to the registry
Fleets, from the registration file
We match each certificate holder against current FAA
registrations to show the aircraft on a dealer’s
certificate right now, plus their acquisitions over time.
