Aero Reg re-publishes public aircraft-registration records, including the owner details that the United States and Canadian aviation authorities make public. If your details appear here, this page explains exactly where they come from, why they are public, what we can do at your request, and what only the authorities can do.
Where this data comes from#
Aero Reg does not invent or collect registration data itself. We ingest the official, public datasets published daily by:
- FAA
- The United States Federal Aviation Administration’s Releasable Aircraft Database — the public US civil aircraft register.
- Transport Canada
- The Canadian Civil Aircraft Register (CCAR), published by Transport Canada.
- CASA
- Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority aircraft register.
- FOCA
- Switzerland’s Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA/BAZL) aircraft register, covering Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
All four authorities publish these registers as open public records that anyone may download. Aircraft registration is, by design, a matter of public record. What you see on Aero Reg is a mirror of what those authorities already publish, refreshed from the source every day.
Why your details may appear#
If you are, or have been, the registered owner of an aircraft, the public register may list your name and the address held on file against that registration. Because we re-publish the register, those details can appear on Aero Reg too. This applies to current records and, where the authorities publish them, to historical and deregistered records.
We process this already-public information under our legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) in providing a transparent, searchable view of aircraft-registration data. We have weighed that interest against your rights, and we will always reconsider that balance on request — see below.
What only the authority can change#
This is the most important thing to understand:
Aero Reg cannot change the official register. We mirror it. If the FAA or Transport Canada record is wrong or out of date, the authoritative correction has to be made with them — and our daily import will then reflect that change automatically.
To correct or update the official record itself, contact the relevant authority:
- FAA
- The FAA Aircraft Registration Branch handles changes to US registrations and the address on file.
- Transport Canada
- Transport Canada’s Civil Aviation registry handles changes to Canadian registrations.
What we can do at your request#
Although we cannot alter the official register, we control how that data is presented on Aero Reg, and we will act on the following requests.
Correct our copy
If our display is out of step with the current official register — for example, we are showing a stale record that the authority has already updated — tell us and we will re-sync or correct it.
Suppress your personal details
You can ask us to suppress your personal details (such as an owner name or address) from display on Aero Reg, even while they remain in the public register. We will consider every such request and, where appropriate, remove those personal details from what we show, while keeping the non-personal aircraft record intact.
Suppressing your details on Aero Reg does not remove them from the FAA or Transport Canada register, from those authorities’ own websites, or from anyone else who has downloaded the public data. To address the record at source, you must contact the authority directly.
How to make a request#
Email privacy@aeroreg.co.uk with:
- The registration mark (and country) the request relates to.
- What you would like us to do — correct, suppress, or both.
- Enough information for us to locate the record and, where needed, verify your connection to it.
We respond within one month. We may ask you to verify your identity before we act, so that we do not change or hide records on someone else’s behalf without good reason.
Daily updates#
Aero Reg refreshes from the source registers every day. If you have the record corrected at source, the change will normally flow through to Aero Reg at the next import. If we apply a suppression at your request, we maintain that suppression even as the underlying data refreshes.
