- No damages. USDA: Edit. N421FX encountered strike on departure from MDW at approx 3000 ft AGL. Aircraft made precautionary return to MDW to assess damages. SNARGE sample was collected from aircraft and has been sent to Smithsonian for identification. No damage reported to aircraft. Smithsonian Wildlife/Species Identification: American coot (Fulica americana). MOR: C90 advised that LXJ421 hit a bird after departing rwy 4R. LXJ421 returned to MDW to land rwy 31C and taxied to Signature Flight Support. CDA notified. There have been no reports of damage. SECOND MOR: C90 advised that LXJ421 hit a bird after departing rwy 4R. LXJ421 returned to MDW to land rwy 31C and taxied to Signature Flight Support. CDA notified. There have been no reports of damage. MOR: AT 0034Z, LXJ421 DEPARTED MDW. UPON FIRST CHECK-IN WITH DEPARTURE CONTROLLER, LXJ421 STATED THEY HIT A BIRD ON DEPARTURE AND NEEDED TO RETURN TO MDW. NON-EMERGENCY. COORDINATED WITH MDW THAT LXJ421 WAS RETURNING DUE TO A BIRD STRIKE. ADVISED MDW TO CONTACT C90 IF ANY DAMAGE REPORTED. LANDED RWY 31C AT 0040Z.
