Remarks
Air Methods. medical transport. FOD Screen dented beyond limits. Blower Motor ingested small parts. Appears to be an eastern blue bird or a thrush. Returning to base from dropping patient at hospital, a bird strike occurred. A loud "thud" consistent with a bird strike was noted by all crew members. This occurred when we were cruising at 120 KIAS approximately 1500 AGL at 0345 in the morning night unaided. There was no noted change in pressure or temperatures. All engine parameters appeared in normal operating ranges. There was no change in flight controls or aircraft handling. No abnormal vibrations felt. The closest approved landing area was our base pad. We continued flight for approximately 3 mins with a normal approach and landing to the helipad. Upon shutdown, we (the entire crew) conducted a thorough post flight. A small bird (eastern bluebird or thrush) was found in the right inlet on the oil cooler blower FOD screen. Maintenance was contacted. Maintenance conducted all necessary repairs and inspections and the ACFT was returned to service. 2 PHOTOS. ADDITIONAL SOURCE AMC BIRD/ WILDLIFE STRIKE REPORT.
